Vancouver Woodworks is a family-owned solid-wood furniture business. We have been designing and building furniture since 1989. Starting in our garage, we specialized in custom furniture. As demand for our quality furniture grew, so did we. We moved into our stand-alone furniture shop on Andresen Rd in 1992.
We opened our showroom in 1995 next to our shop. At this point, we also started bringing furniture in from other manufacturers to help fill our floor space. This showroom was a good start, but was difficult to get to, and even harder to find so we moved our showroom downtown to Broadway and 10th in 1999.
While at this location, we opened The Naked Furniture Company on Andresen Rd. This store specialized in unfinished furniture and finishing supplies; a niche that needed filling in Clark County.
In 2002, we moved from Broadway to our current location on Andresen Rd. We moved in large part for customer convenience. We are now centrally located, have no parking meters out front, and are very close to our shop, making furniture pick-ups a snap.
The summer of 2005 saw our most recent significant change. We consolidated both of our stores into the location at 3000 NE Andresen Rd. This move made it easier for customers to see our entire product line without the need of traveling between stores. We now have the unfinished furniture interspersed throughout our store, as well as in its own section at the back of the store.
Bruce & Kathryn Lyons own the business and run the day-to-day operations at the store. Bruce designs the custom furniture and works on marketing the business. Kathryn is in charge of accounting and customer service.
William Nahorn, their oldest son designed and maintains the company web site and is in charge of deliveries. He also does some sales and work in the shop as well.
Their son Matthew delivers and assembles furniture when not in school.
Their daughter Christina works in the store occasionally, filing and working with customers.
Dorie L. is the shop foreman. She manages the daily operations in the shop as well as building the bulk of the custom furniture.
Damian A. is the jack-of-all-trades at the shop. From finishing to deliveries, to furniture-prep and final assembly, he does just about everything around the shop.
